Obituary

Services for Mrs. Frances Joyner (95) will be held 10:30am Tuesday, June 28, 2016, at Bodkin Funeral Home with Dr. Jere Phillips, Rev. James Rogers, and Rev. Wayne Rowan officiating with burial to follow in the Gibson County Memorial Gardens near Milan. Visitation with the family will be held on Monday evening from 6 - 8pm at the funeral home. Mrs. Joyner died on Friday, June 24, at NHC, Milan. She was born April 25, 1921. She was the daughter of the late Wille Bert Cook and Aileen Cook. She had lived in Milan since 1938 and had worked for the Milan Army Ammunition Plant. She was a member of Oakwood Baptist Church in Milan where she taught Sunday School and was a member of the Womans Missionary Union for many years. She was a member of the Union Central Community Club. She is survived by a daughter, Glenda Joyner Phillips of Lakeland. In addition to her daughter and her husband (Jere Phillips), a daughter-in-law (Dottie Joyner), four grandchildren (Tommy Joyner and his wife Robin), (Robin Joyner Flournoy and her husband Todd), (Julianne Phillips Carney and her husband Chad), and (Jennifer Phillips and her husband Brian). Mrs. Joyner had eleven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Cecil Joyner, a son Billy Joyner and four brothers (Jerry Cook, Wilburn Cook, James Cook, and Ray Cook).
