Martha Dolores Swan (Shampel), age 89 of Cedar Grove, born March 10, 1929, went to be with her Savior after a four year battle with cancer on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 while at her home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, March 31, 2018, at the Bodkin Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Hopewell Cemetery in Lavinia. Visitation with the family will take place Saturday from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM service time at the funeral home. Mrs. Martha was born and raised in Byesville, Ohio. She graduated from Byesville High School in 1946. After that, she attended Moody Bible Institue in Chicago, IL. Mrs. Swan was a longtime resident of Bolingbrook, IL, and lived in Cedar Grove for the past 17 years. She was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church in Lavinia. She is preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Hazel Shampel; sister, Ruth Seger; husbands, Bill Swan, Sr (1983) and John Swan (2004); sons-in-law, Louis Orlando and James Gardner; and a grandson, Jesse Swan. Mrs. Martha is survived by daughters, Sheryl Gardner and Carolyn Orlando; sons, David (Marg) Swan and Bill (Rosa) Swan, Jr., 13 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and 4 great great grandchildren.
