Obituary

Ann was one of God's very best gifts. To her family and friends she was unfailingly kind and gentle and met life's triumphs and trials with rare equanimity and graciousness. Ann was born Gladys Ann Ross to Rebecka Pauline Pollock Ross and William Granville (W.G.) Ross. She is survived by her daughters, Dawne Annelle Dickey Davis (John) and Dara Fields Dickey Bailey (Martie) and her two grandchildren, Elizabeth Tennessee Davis and Lockett Ross Davis. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Nelson Dickey and her sister, Kay Ross Stanfill. She is also survived by sisters, Joan Ross Graves (Sammy) and Betsy Ross Kirchner (Larry) as well as four nieces, Jennifer Kirkpatrick, Holly Preservati, Heather Delaney, Kristie Heyworth, and nephew, Brian Stanfill and their families. Ann was born near Skullbone, TN and grew up on her parents' farm "Polly Oaks" near Milan. She graduated at the top of her class from Milan High School and received her degree in English from Lambuth College. She raised her family in Germantown where she was well-known for her work with the Lausanne School and as the long-time manager of The Gift Horse. In later years she made her home with Dawne's Family at Cedar Hall Farm in Eagleville, TN Ann led a life that was well-lived and well-remembered, full of unflinching love and quiet dignity. We will miss her dearly. A private graveside service will take place at the Oakwood Cemetery in Milan.
