Obituary

Austin Caine Douglas, a name synonymous with a heart full of joy and a smile that could light up the darkest room, has left the stage of life at the young age of 29. Born on April 16, 1996, in Jackson, TN, Austin took his final bow at Horizon Medical Center in Dickson, TN, on November 24, 2025. His curtain call came too soon, but not without an encore of memories that will play on in the hearts of those who loved him.

His Aunt Jessica Campbell and her husband James, brother Jeremy Douglas, and his Special Ma Leslie Parker Ferguson, all held starring roles in his life's story. Austin's nephews, Jeremiah and Easton Douglas, will miss their uncle's epic renditions of Disney songs, and his cousins Jaxon (along with Allie), Sara, Olivia, Cullen, Piper, Memphis, and Knox Douglas will forever cherish the adventures they shared. Mattie Louise Conley, his honorary grandmother, added a special sprinkle of magic to his existence. He was also survived by his father Lavon Horton and uncle Jere Kizer Douglas. Though preceded in death by his mother Jennifer Douglas, grandparents, Jere and Elaine Douglas, their legacy lived on through Austin's every act of kindness.

A proud graduate of Waverly Central High School in 2018, Austin was the classmate everyone wanted to be around. His humor was as infectious as a catchy tune, and his wit as sharp as a tack. Disney movies were more than just a pastime for Austin; they were a philosophy. He lived his life with the courage of Simba, the curiosity of Woody, and the joy of every character in between. And let's not forget his childhood pals Barney and the Sesame Street gang; they were the opening act to his lifelong journey.

Austin's life was a masterclass in love, thoughtfulness, and friendliness. He never missed an opportunity to make someone feel special, whether through a thoughtful gesture or a perfectly timed joke. His ability to turn a frown upside down was nothing short of magical. To know Austin was to be enveloped in the warmth of his exuberant spirit. He was a reminder that life is too short to be taken too seriously.  As we say goodbye to Austin Caine Douglas, let's not dwell on the silence left in his absence but fill it with the echoes of his laughter. Let's honor him by living as he did, with hearts wide open.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, November 28, 2025 at 1 PM at Bodkin Funeral Home with his visitation Friday from 11 AM - 1 PM. He will be buried in Oakwood Cemetery in Milan.
