Funeral service for Bobby Eugene Carter, age 86 of Milan, will be held on Thursday, October 12, 2023, at 11 AM at the Walnut Grove United Methodist Church near Milan with burial to follow in the Walnut Grove Cemetery. Visitation for Mr. Carter will be held on Thursday from 10 11 AM at the church. Bob Carter was born in Milan on August 23, 1937 to his parents Harvy T. and Elizabeth Carter. He worked for 43.8 years for Sears in the Sears Service and Repair Department from which he retired in 2001. Bob was a lifelong member of the Walnut Grove United Methodist Church. Mr. Carter was President of the West TN Antique Car Club and he was also a member of the Gibson County Republican Party. He attended Milan High School through the 8th grade and he was a member of the Class of 1956 Alumni. Bob enjoyed spending time with family, attending church, playing golf and any kind of outside work. We loved him in life, we grieve him in death and we will rejoice with him in Heaven. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Rachel Ary Carter of Milan, a daughter Becky Dodd (Dale) of Henderson, two grandchildren Michael Dodd (Terri) of Medina and Stephanie Tartt (Jeff) of Olive Branch, MS and six great-grandchildren. Besides his parents, Bob was preceded in death by a son Jeffrey Carter, two brothers Dan Carter and Edgar Carter and a sister Dorothy Carter.
