On Monday, August 31, 2026, Carlos Dunn, loving father, age 100, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was born in the Moore’s Chapel Community of Milan, Tennessee and was a long time member of First Assembly of God Church where he served as a deacon and choir member.
On September 3, 1945, he married Mildred Dunn and they raised three children. He worked as a farmer and then at Brown Shoe Company. He served in the First Division of the Marines from 1944 to 1947 seeing combat in the Battle of Okinawa and later serving in China. In addition, he was active in the Milan Veterans of Foreign Wars for many years and was an avid golfer. During his 100th birthday celebration, he was presented a Purple Heart pin, an honor he had once refused because he did not feel he had earned it even though he was wounded and qualified.
He was preceded in death by his wife (Mildred 2020), his parents W.T. and Ida Jane Dunn., and 9 siblings. Survivors include daughter (Janice); son Bobby (Chris); son Terry (Cathy); grandchildren Jennifer Maiden (Chris), Angela Dalton (Paul), and Kevin Dunn. In addition, he left behind his beloved great-grandchildren: A J Maiden, Will Maiden, McCartney Schrupp, Matthew Dalton, Brandon Dalton, and Emily Dalton and great-great grandchildren Ace Schrupp and Samuel Lemones. He also leaves several nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at 12 PM at the Milan First Assembly of God Church with burial to follow in the Gibson County Memory Gardens. The family will be receiving friends beginning at 11 AM Thursday at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Assembly of God Church or the West Tennessee
