Carol Antoinette (Toni) Conover was many things to many people: mother, grandmother, daughter, confidant, teacher, artist, humanitarian and lover of all animals. She passed away in the early hours of May 2, 2022 surrounded by loved ones.
Toni was an artist at heartwhether painting beautiful pieces of art or spinning tales of her ancestors antics (and there were many!) she had a way of placing you right in the middle of the story she was sharing and the experience was absolutely magical.
An equal-rights warrior, she firmly believed that ALL people in this world are created equal and treated every person that crossed her path with respect, love and empathy. As a life-long agnostic, she truly lived by the Golden Rule and was admired by all that knew her.
A passionate animal lover, Toni contributed on a regular basis to those helping our four-legged friends and was the proud owner of many creatures large and small over the course of her life. She will be greatly missed by Anna, Molly, Bess, Huckleberry, Maggie, Tom-Tom and Dixie. They will miss her cozy snuggles.
Originally from Illinois, Toni and her family came to Bradford via Mesa, Arizona in the 1970s and she became a graduate from the Lambuth University with a degree in Psychology, later received her Masters degree in Counseling from Memphis State University. She also helped teach and mentor young artists in the Milan/Bradford area through her art therapy at her Main Street Arts studio.
Preceded in death by her husband, Robert; mother Helen Barton Johnson; and father, Clyde Elder Barton. She is survived by her two children - daughter Robin Conover (Cori) of Goodlettsville, TN; her son, Bart Conover (Tammy) of Spring Hill, TN; three grandchildren, Lillian, Zachary and Joshua and her bonus family of choice, Robbie Holmes (Kim) and their two children Baylea and William.
A celebration of life will be held at her home on Saturday, May 7th beginning at noon. In lieu of flowers, please feel free to make donations in her name to either the Gibson County Animal Shelter, Friends of Radnor Lake, Old Dogs Senior Dog Sanctuary, or your animal charity of choice.
