Funeral services for Carolyn Virginia Roark, age 89 of Milan, will take place at 1:00 PM Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at the Bodkin Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Centerville Cemetery near Medina. Bro. Josh Moore will officiate the service.
Visitation with the family will take place Tuesday from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM service time at the funeral home.
Mrs. Virginia was born on March 29, 1935, to the late Muncie Lee Bell and Maggie Lorene Mann Bell in Carroll County. She passed away at NHC Healthcare in Milan on May 31, 2024. She was a member of Chapel Hill Baptist Church in Milan. Mrs. Virginia was very involved in church. She loved teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School classes. Mrs. Roark was very caring and compassionate to everyone she met. She was a retired nurse working in various West Tennessee facilities. Her passions were taking care of family and friends, cooking for church functions and family meals, and traveling with her late husband Don to listen to him sing gospel music.
She is survived by a daughter, Angie Watlington (Larry) of Sharon, TN; son, Wayne Roark of Smyrna, TN; brothers, Billy Bell (Diane) of Camden, TN, Lee Bell (Joyce) of Knoxville, TN, Joe Bell (Glenda) of Jackson, TN, and brother-in-law, Dr. Kelly Roark of Fort Walton Beach, FL; a sister, Marilyn Reynolds of Jackson, TN; grandchildren, Rob Stewart (Barbie) and Josie of Cummings, GA and Taylor Roark of Murfreesboro, TN; step-grandchild, Sheay McGehee; step great-grandchildren, Hailey Alexander (Collins), Grant McGehee, and Abbi McGehee; she also leaves several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Mrs. Virginia is preceded in death by her loving husband Donald Roark Sr; sisters, Maxine Merideth, Bonnie Crutchfield, and sisters-in-law, Bonnie Webb and Olivia Roark.
The family wants to express their gratitude to Debbie Hammitt for her exceptional care for their mother during the past years and also to Toni Hobock of Tennessee Quality Hospice of Martin for her kindness and compassion.
