Memorial services for Cecil George Crider will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at 3 pm at the First United Methodist Church in Milan. Visitation with the family will be from 2 - 3 pm at the church. He retired from the U.S. Department of Commerce, Washington DC, and returned to Milan to his childhood home built by his maternal grandfather in 1920, and where he was born on February 11, 1934. He lived there until he moved to Wesley Fountain Place in 2017. Cecil later moved to NHC Healthcare where he passed away on July 17, 2022.
He was educated in the Milan Schools and was a graduate of The University of Tennessee Knoxville. He was a former volunteer at the Mustard Seed, former secretary of the Oakwood Cemetery Association, supporter of the MHS Alumni Association, and for 28 years he was a volunteer at the Mildred G. Fields Memorial Library. Health permitting, he always had a vegetable and flower garden. The fruits of which he shared with appreciative friends. Out of respect he always wore a coat and tie to church and the funeral home. He enjoyed travels to Europe and Asia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George L. Crider, sister, Lucille C. Hazlewood, and nephew, George Donald Hazlewood.
He is survived by a niece, Laura H Bateman of McKenzie and a nephew, John F Hazlewood of Milan along with several great-grand nieces and nephews and great-great-grand nieces and nephew.
