Obituary

Charles Wayne Forrester, Sr., a cherished husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 2, 2026, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital. Born on February 7, 1941, in Cairo, Illinois, Charles lived a full and vibrant life marked by courage, wisdom, and a remarkable ability to fix anything that needed repair.

Charles was the beloved husband of Stella Forrester, with whom he shared 64 beautiful years of marriage. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and enduring memories. He was a devoted father to his sons, Charles Forrester, Jr., Larry Forrester (Lamesa), and John Forrester. His role as a patriarch extended to his brother, Robert Forrester, and his sister, Mary Rose (Pat). Charles was a proud grandfather to five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren, with the joyous expectation of welcoming another soon to be great-great-grandchild.

Before retiring, Charles dedicated many years of service as a mechanic at Ryder Truck Company, where his skill and dedication were well-respected. His commitment to his community was evident through his active involvement with the Chapel Hill Baptist Church, where he was a valued member.

One of his most cherished experiences, and one that he was most proud of, was his time serving his country in the U S Army.  He served for a total of eight years and spent time in Korea, Germany as well as the United States in active duty for his country.

Charles's life was one of service and commitment, not only to his family and work but also to his faith. He was a man who lived by his principles, and his influence extended far beyond the walls of his home and church. His courage was not the loud and boisterous kind but a quiet strength that saw his family through tough times and celebrated with them in moments of joy.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Ruby Mae Barnhart Forrester, and his sisters, Carolyn and Virginia. His legacy, however, continues to thrive in the lives of those he touched.
