Funeral services for Charles Wesley Speer, age 82 of Atwood, will take place at 2:00 PM Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at Bodkin Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Independence Cemetery near Lexington. Visitation with the family will take place Tuesday evening from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and Wednesday from 1:00 PM until service time.

Charles was born October 2, 1942, to the late James and Leanna O'Guinn Speer. He passed away at his home in Atwood on July 19, 2025.Charles was a long-time member of First Baptist Church in Atwood where he served as deacon for many years. He retired from King Technologies in Trenton but worked 19 years at ITT. He will be remembered as a faithful servant to his Savior and a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.

Charles is survived by his wife, Geninda Speer of Atwood; son, Dewayne Speer (Pamel) of Atwood; daughter, Genene Smith (Allan) of Atwood; brother, Lee Speer (Sue) of Texas; sisters, Betty Whitaker of Lexington, TN and Phyllis Forjette (Paul) of Lexington, TN; grandchildren, Rebecca Camille Speer, Meagan Cook (Dustin), Logan Smith, Martin Smith, and Greg Camper; great grandchildren, Natalie Cook, Levi Cook, Asher Greenman, and Veronica Greenman.

Besides his parents, Charles is preceded in death by a brother, George Speer.
