Obituary

Cherrie Sue (Sloan) Robinson, 99, born in Whitthorne, TN February 3, 1925 to the late Elbert Ross and Alice Lela Sloan, passed away June 13, 2024.

Cherrie grew up in rural Carroll County and lived there with her husband and family for decades where she cooked many a meal and served up a lot of homemade desserts. She loved basketball, having grown up playing the sport as part of the Whitthorne Junior High Team and later at Trezevant High School where she graduated. She later followed the Memphis Grizzlies and could tell you how they could improve their game if they would only listen. She had a competitive spirit loving to play

card games, scrabble, and bingo after she had completed her crossword puzzle for the day.

She was a talented gardener who was able to make flowers bloom. Summers were spent harvesting, shelling, snapping, canning, and freezing the abundance of the vegetable garden she tended. She played the piano, having never had a lesson. She was a Christian who loved listening to sermons, discussing the Word, and reading her Bible, often quoting sections by heart. She was also a longtime volunteer at the Milan Hospital.

Cherrie was preceded in death by her husband, William Fred Robinson, who she married on May 31, 1946. She is survived by her four children, daughter, Jo Anne James; son, David Michael Robinson (Jane); daughter, Vicki Sue Ratliff (Richard); and daughter, Krysti Leigh Thomas (Christine); eight grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held on Sunday, June 16, 2024, at 2 PM at the Oakwood Cemetery in Milan.
