Danny Neal (Dannie) Felker passed away peacefully December 28th. He will be missed by his wife Judy, daughter Bradley (Richard Curtis), grandson Wesley Curtis (Liz and great-grandson Daniel and soon to be here great-granddaughter), grandson Wade Curtis (Lindsay and great-granddaughter Tatum), and his siblings Dave Felker (Linda and his family), Brenda Lawson (Jim) and Dennis Felker (Sally and their family).
He was a very special mentor to Wesley and Wade and a loving father and grandfather.
His mother, Leron Faye (Rodgers) and his Father, Woodrow Wilson, preceded him in death.
Danny was born and raised in Corinth, Mississippi.
He had a very interesting life and he was an inspiration to many. His joy of life was very evident in all that he did. His career started with an appointment to Annapolis. Due to health issues he had to leave after a year. He worked several years on the air at WCMA radio station in Corinth. He attended the University of Mississippi. He continued his education ending with a Masters degree in business at the University of Memphis. While working on his education he worked for the athletic department and after his degree he became Assistant Athletic Director at U of M in finance under Coach Murphy. After several years he moved over to university management, specifically Auxiliary Services Manager. He retired in 2003 after 36 years with the university. He mentored and helped many athletes and students in his tenure.
He had a wealth of knowledge and was always seeking new knowledge. Reading about current affairs, biographies, history, animals and the world was his hobby.
After his first year of retirement, he received his first puppy, Minkey Faye. They were the best of pals. Then came Marnie Sue. She was a treasure to him. It was fun to see him with his special dogs.
The family thanks NHC Healthcare Milan TN who took care of him in such a caring and loving way since August of this year.
