Obituary

Donald Aubry "Bono" Jackson, known affectionately as Don to his friends and family, passed away on January 1, 2026, after an extended illness. Born on September 12, 1946, in Milan, Tennessee, Don was a beacon of love and wisdom throughout his 79 years of life.

Don grew up in the small town of Milan where he graduated from Milan High School. His leadership qualities shone through early on as he served as the band captain, inspiring his peers with his dedication and spirit. After high school, Don answered the call of duty and enlisted in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. As an Aircraft Mechanic, he served his country with honor and was awarded the National Defense Medal for his service.

Upon his honorable discharge, Don returned to his roots in Tennessee and began a career as a skilled carpenter and licensed electrician. His work was not just a job but a testament to his meticulous nature and commitment to excellence. Later, he joined the team at Esterline in the maintenance department, remaining there until the plant's closure. Unwavering in his work ethic, Don then returned to his entrepreneurial roots and continued to serve his community as a self-employed electrician and carpenter.

Don's contributions to his community extended beyond his professional work. He was a devoted member and Elder of the Double Springs Cumberland Presbyterian Church, where his kindness and wisdom touched the lives of many. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, guiding him in his daily actions and relationships. Those who knew Don best would describe him as loving, kind, and wise. His presence brought comfort and joy to those around him, and his guidance was sought after by many.

Don's legacy is carried on by his beloved wife, Gail Jackson; his son, Michael Jackson and wife Charlotte; his brother, David Jackson and wife Martha; his cherished grandchildren, Courtney Hefner and husband Josh, Cody Jackson and wife Hannah, Mackenzie Jackson, Brett Gutgsell and wife Caroline, Bethany Gutgsell and Brooke Gutgsell and his adored great-grandchildren, Arlo Gutgsell and Ruby Jackson. Don was preceded in death by his parents, Barney and Mavoureene Brown Jackson, who instilled in him the values of hard work and compassion that he carried throughout his life

Donald Aubry "Bono" Jackson's life was one of purpose, service, and love. As we remember Don, we celebrate a life well-lived and a legacy that will continue to inspire for generations to come. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to have known him.
