Funeral service for Doris Jean Hickerson, age 91 of Milan, will be held on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at Bodkin Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Oakwood Cemetery in Dyer.  Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 10, from 1 - 2 PM at the funeral home.

Doris passed away on January 7 in Milan after an extended illness.  She was born in Dyer to Paul and Neva King Blackburn on February 17, 1934.  She attended and graduated from Dyer High School and after working for many years, retired from the Gibson County Special School District.  She was a member of the Main Street Church of Christ.

Doris is survived by her husband R D Hickerson, children Joy Cooper, Robby Hickerson (Lorraine) and Michael Ray Hickerson, seven grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son Ronnie Paul Hickerson, brother Wilbur Ray Blackburn, one granddaughter and one great grandson.
