Funeral service for Dorothy Louise Gurley, age 96 of Milan, will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2023 at 2 PM at Bodkin Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Oakwood Cemetery in Milan. Visitation with the family will be held on Friday evening from 6 8 PM at the funeral home. She was born in Waverly on May 5, 1927 and she was a member of the New Hope Primitive Baptist Church in Milan. Dorothy worked at the Milan Shirt Factory until her children were born, quick working public work until they were raised, then returned to work at Douglas Nursing Home where she worked as a CNA until she officially retired. Dorothy is survived by two daughters Donna Johnson of Milan, Teena Gurley of Jackson, a son Tyson Hunt Gurley of York, SC, five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas "Tom" Gurley, a son Morris Lane Gurley, her mother Pearl Connell, one brother J. L. Connell and a sister Maxine Curtis.
