Douglas
Bullington
April 24, 1944 – June 25, 2024
Douglas Ray Bullington, or as he was known to many of his childhood friends and family, "Booty," passed away at home on June 25, 2024, surrounded by his family whom he loved. He was daddy to four children, Teressa Kaye (Sammy), William Douglas (Rhonda), Vivian Inez, and Tammy Ann, whom he loved dearly and always made sure they were taken care of. He was papaw to 11 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren who loved rummaging through his bib- overall pockets and drawing bugs on his hands. He was the youngest of his siblings, Pauline and Charles William, who preceded him, and Elsie Gean, who survives him. His wife of 55 years, Patricia, and a daughter, Pamela, preceded him in death, as did his parents, Robert and "Mama Belle."
He had an almost infinite knowledge of Farmall tractors, vegetable gardening, and the history of every farm in Gibson and Carroll counties going back to the Great Depression. The only thing he enjoyed more than riding a tractor and working on his garden was camping with his children and grandchildren. He had a very low tolerance for incompetence, whether real or imagined. He read every Louis L'Amour book ever written at least twice, watched every episode of Gunsmoke and Andy Griffith at least a half-dozen times, and loved to talk about what his grandchildren from New York to California were doing.
He fought a two-year battle with cancer, and he won.
Funeral Services will be held at Bodkin Funeral Home in Milan, TN on Saturday, June 29 at 11:00 and will be officiated by Billy Hanks and Hobart Walker. Burial will follow at Poplar Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held on Friday evening from 5 – 8 PM and on Saturday from 10 – 11 AM at the funeral home.
