Dwain Arthur Smith, age 94 of Milan, formerly of Idlewild, passed away on February 14, 2022 at NHC Healthcare in Milan after and extended illness. He was born on April 26, 1927 to Dexter and Maxie Jamison Smith in Milan. Dwain had many jobs during his life including working for the Milan Box Corporation and he retired from the Maintenance Department of the Bradford Special School District. He had many lifelong interests which included outdoor work, which included mowing and trimming and running a chainsaw as well as an interest in playing the guitar. But his main interest was going to the old observation deck of the Memphis International Airport and watching jets as they came in and took off. Dwain is survived by his sons Ricky Smith (Ruth Ann) of Bradford and Greg Smith (Nola) of Milan, a brother Gene Smith (Carolee) of Bradford, four grandchildren Eric Smith of Munford, Brad Smith (Jennifer) of Dousman, WI, Jackie Wagner (Josh) of Milan and Clint Smith (Sierra) of Endwell, NY and four great grandchildren Jaxon Smith, Levi Wagner, Mia Kate Wagner and Hayes Wagner. Besides his parents, Dwain was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years Rachel Smith, a grandson Alex Smith, a sister Mattie Sue Lovelace and six brothers Clyde Smith, Clone Smith, Dean Smith, Jack Smith, Frank Smith and Fred Smith. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at 1 PM at Bodkin Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Mount Pisgah Cemetery near Bradford. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 11 AM 1 PM at the funeral home. Active pallbearers will be Josh Wagner, Brad Smith, Chris Hayes, Eric Smith, Dale Childers and Jerry David Lessenberry.
