Funeral services for Mr. James Edward Cowan, age 90 of Atwood, will take place at 1:00 PM Monday, September 16, 2019, at the Bodkin Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Pisgah Cemetery in Atwood. Visitation with the family will be held Sunday evening from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM and Monday from 10:00 AM until service time at the funeral home. Mr. Edward was a retired plumber. He worked as the plumbing superintendent during Union University's construction. Mr. Edward later retired from the Milan Arsenal. He was proud that he maintained perfect attendance while at the Milan Arsenal. Mr. Edward will be remembered as a loving father and husband. He and his wife Lota Jewell Cowan enjoyed nearly 72 years of marriage. Surviving Family: Wife - Lota Jewell Cowan of Atwood Sons - James Franklin Cowan of Atwood, Jack Wayne (Betty Jean) Cowan of Millington, TN, and Ronald Lynn Cowan of Goodlettsville, TN Daughters - Teresa Ann (David Lynn) Taylor of Medina, TN, and Trina Faye (Jamie Joseph) Lawrence of Milan Brothers - Jerry Cowan, Duey Cowan, and Eugene Cowan Sister - Edith Cooper Grandchildren - 18 Great-Grandchildren - 40 Great-Great-Grandchildren - 9 Mr. Cowan is preceded in death by his parents, Jack Sisco Cowan and Willie Earline Brown Cowan; a sister, Martha Ballard; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
