Eugene Murrel Martin, Jr., age 83, of Lavinia, passed away on August 14, 2026, after an extended illness. Jr. was born on February 10, 1943, to his parents, Eugene and Evelyn Barger Martin, who predeceased him.

A devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather, he lived life to the fullest. Jr was a member of the Carters Chapel Church near McLemoresville, and he worked for A O Smith and later Tower Automotive, from which he retired.

He is survived by his wife Sheila Barger of Lavinia, a daughter Lorey Scruggs (Sam) of Lavinia, a son Danny Martin (Dawn) of Humboldt, one brother Roger Martin (Angie) of McLemoresville, four grandchildren Brent Martin (Kelly), Justin Scruggs (Beth), Kyle Scruggs (Gara) and Paige Scruggs and six great grandchildren Kasey Martin, Alyza Martin, Bryson Martin, Sam Scruggs, Henry Scruggs and Malcom Scruggs.

The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at Carters Chapel Church at 2 PM, with burial to follow in Carters Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church before the funeral from 10 AM until 2 PM.
