Obituary

Gerald B. Walden, age 82 of Milan, passed away January 18, 2017. He is in the care of Bodkin Funeral Home. He was born January 27, 1934 in Gibson County to John and Pauline Palmer Walden. Gerald graduated from Gibson High School, and Bethel College in McKenzie. He was proud to be a Veteran, having served our country in the United States Army. He and Linnie Williamson were married December 20, 1959 at Atwood First Baptist Church. He was an Engineer with NASA for 30 years at Kennedy Space Center, Florida. He started work at KSC in 1964, and lived in Merritt Island until he retired from NASA and returned to Milan. Gerald and Linnie joined First Baptist Church, Merritt Island, FL in 1964, and are still members there. Gerald was an ordained deacon, and enjoyed working with the youth in the church. He loved sports, and coached Little League for several years. Gerald was a loving son, husband, and father. His faith was very important to him. He loved God, his family, and his friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Pauline Walden of Milan. He is survived by his wife, Linnie Williamson Walden of Milan, son Steven B. Walden and wife Pat of Merritt Island, FL and daughter Stacey Walden of Milan. There will be no services at this time. A memorial service for Gerald will be held at a later date in Merritt Island, FL.
