Gordon Dewayne Camper, age 89 of Milan, passed away on September 22, 2021 at his home in Milan surrounded by his loving family. He was born in the Whitthorn Community on August 24, 1932 to Jack and Sallie Lockheart Camper. Gordon was a 30 year member of the Memphis Fire Department serving from 1958 until retiring in 1988 as a Captain. In 1994 they moved back to Milan a joined the Milan First Baptist Church. Gordon is survived by his wife Helen Camper of Milan, a son Stanley Camper (Lynn) of Munford, three grandchildren Shad Camper of Milan, Doug Camper and Michelle Camper both of Memphis, two sisters Helen Stewart of Milan and Tommie Ragan (Carey) of Germantown, four great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and one great-great child arriving in March of 2022. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter Carolyn Marie Camper and seven siblings. Graveside service for Mr. Camper will be held on Monday, September 27, 2021 at 2 PM at the Pisgah Cemetery in Atwood. There will be no visitation at the funeral home.
