Harold Dean Thompson April 8, 1940 December 26, 2022 Harold Thompson, 82, of Milan, TN, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 26, 2022. Harold was born on April 8, 1940, to R.C. and Roberta Thompson. He graduated from Milan High School in 1958 and later supported his country with service in the Army. After many years of coaching Milan youth baseball, he was selected as "Outstanding Young Man of 1972" for the Milan Jaycees. He retired from the Milan arsenal after 33 years of employment. In 1989, he married Dianne Price and became a father to two daughters. Harold was a loving husband, father and grandfather and an active member of Salem United Methodist Church. As an avid fisherman, he liked spending time at the lake with family and friends. He also enjoyed the title "Mr. Bass" and fished in numerous local, regional, state, and federation tournaments. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Louise Thompson and Martha Nell Milligan, and brother Jesse Thompson. He is survived by his wife of over 33 years, Dianne, daughters Julia Davis Murphy (Scotty) and Peni Davis Smith (Brian), and six grandsons, Carson Lee and Jed Robinson, Bryce and Ethan Smith, and Tyler and Logan Murphy. He also leaves behind three sisters, Judy Graves, Brenda Dixon, and Ann Neil, and brother, Ron Thompson. Visitation will be held at 12:00 p.m. on December 30, 2022, at Salem United Methodist Church in Milan, TN with a Funeral Service to follow at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be in the Gibson County Memory Gardens near Milan. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, or the charity of your choice.
