Harry Sargent Blackington, Jr., age 86, was born on April 7, 1934, in Hartford, CT to Harry Sargent Blackington, Sr. and Mary D. Winar Blackington. He was raised and attended public schools in West Hartford, CT and attended the University of Connecticut prior to enlisting in the USMC during the Korean Conflict. After his tour of duty with the Marines, he continued his education at Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa, CA.
His business career included roles in problem solving and new company start-ups in California and Tennessee, the last of which was Magellan Systems in California. He was an active member of Northbrook Church in the Three Way community.
He is survived by his wife, Paula Blackington, whom he met while working at ITT in Milan in 1974, a son Mark Hughes, three grandchildren Derrick, Zachary and Carleigh Blackington. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Shirley Mott, and his son Scott Blackington.
Memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2020, at the Northbrook Church, at 2 pm with visitation to begin at 1 pm until service time also at the church. Northbrook Church is located at 421 Hwy 45W in Humboldt, TN 38343.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Northbrook Church.
