Funeral services for Hazel Ruth Finney, age 96 of Memphis, will take place at 1:00 PM Monday, February 1, 2021, at the Bodkin Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Gibson County Memory Gardens near Milan. Visitation with the family will be Monday from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at the funeral home. Mrs. Finney was a member of the First Assembly of God in Milan. Hazel was a "Rosie the Riveter" during World War II. She moved from Memphis to Orange Park, Florida in 1941. Throughout her life, Hazel enjoyed cooking delicious meals for family and friends. Some of her happiest days were serving as the head chef for her church of some 40 years, First Baptist Church of Orange Park, Florida. She also planted happiness for others to enjoy by maintaining a gorgeous rose garden and other flowering plants all around her yard in Milan, Tennessee. She is survived by her son, Larry Eugene Finney and wife Barbara of Cordova, TN, sisters, Louise Crawford of Olive Branch, MS and Gerene Beard of Milan, TN, and four grandchildren, Austin Finney, Gloria Ruth Finney, Kevin Finney, and Lauren Finney Ibon (Matt). Hazel is preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Lena Heavner Babb, and her husband of over 50 years, Louis P. Finney. She loved the Lord her entire life and never lost faith in His unfailing love and guidance in her life.
