Imogene Spain Cantrell, 86, moved to her heavenly home February 8, 2022. She passed away after a brief illness at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro, Arkansas where she was surrounded by her daughter and grandchildren. She was born on November 9, 1935, to Charlie and Dola Bennett Spain.
Imogene was preceded in death by her parents, and husband of 55 years, George Cantrell. She is survived by her daughter Alison Bell (Phillip) of Jonesboro, AR, her granddaughter Rachel Bell Harbison (Chad) of Jonesboro, grandson Daniel Bell (Jenny) of Jonesboro and great grandchildren Laura Bethany Harbison, Jack Cantrell Harbison, and Bennett William Bell all of Jonesboro, her sister Dean Burke of Milan and sister-in-law Joyce Cantrell of Milan.
Imogene retired after 35 years as an accountant from the Milan Army Ammunition plant. Following her retirement, she assisted her husband full-time on the family farm. George and Imogene enjoyed traveling. They completed their goal of visiting all fifty states. They also enjoyed spending as much time as possible with their two grandchildren. They rarely missed a ball game or band concert.
Imogene was an avid sports fan. She enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals, Memphis Grizzlies, Tennessee Titans, the Tennessee Volunteers and her Milan Bulldogs.
Imogene was an active member of the Milan First Baptist Church and the "Charity" Sunday School class.
Funeral services for Mrs. Imogene Cantrell will be private.
