Funeral services for Mr. James Ray Hayes, age 77 of Gleason and formerly Milan, will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, October 26, 2017, at the Bodkin Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Pratt Cemetery near Milan. Visitation with the family will take place Wednesday evening from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm and Thursday from 11:00 am until service time at the funeral home. Mr. Ray was a member of the Gleason First United Methodist Church. Mr. Hayes was also an ordained Methodist pastor. He retired from the Milan Arsenal where he worked in Quality Control. He loved to sing and also loved being an auctioneer. Mr. Hayes is survived by his wife; Martha Hayes of Gleason, daughter; Lisa (Greg) Massengill of Milan, son; Terry (Danita) Hayes of Corinth, MS, daughter; Angela (Billy) Savage of McKenzie, TN, daughter; Jackie Wallace of McKenzie, TN, son; Tracy (Cristi) Wallace of Gleason, daughter; Lisa (Brandon) Palmer of Portland, TX, sister; Rachel (Dwayne) Smith of Milan, sister; Ruby (Kenneth) Rainey of Atwood, brother; Lyndell Hayes of Milan, brother; C.B. (Sue) Hayes of Paris, TN, sister; Opal Lessenberry, grandchildren; Heather Mallard, Jodi Lamb, Tristan Hayes, Amber Engle, Montana Savage, Alec Zills, Aubrey Wallace, Camrin Palmer, and Liam Palmer, and 13 great grandchildren. Mr. Ray is preceded in death by his parents, George Hayes and Beulah Jenkins Hayes. Memorials may be directed to The Gideons International.
