Obituary

Funeral service for James William Lewis, age 93 of Atwood, will be held on Sunday, February 23, 2025, at 2 PM at Bodkin Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Gibson County Memory Gardens near Milan. Visitation with the family will be held on Sunday from 12 – 2 PM at the funeral home.

James was born on March 7, 1931, to James Monroe and Mattie Tibbs Lewis in Humboldt. He retired from public work from American Chain and Cable Company (ACCO) in Milan. He was a member of the Atwood Church of Christ, and he served his country in the U S military serving in the U S Army.

He is survived by two sons Jim Lewis and Tim Lewis (Lindy) both of Atwood, six grandchildren Wesley Lewis of Atlanta, Jamie Rogers (Daniel ) of Milan, Chad Lewis, Kyle Lewis (Morgan) of Atwood, Seth Lewis (Mekenzie) of Chattanooga, and Erin Lewis of Atwood, and nine great grandchildren Max Lewis, Gavin Lewis, Milo Lewis, Mae Lewis, Alexis Lewis Lamb, Lucas Lewis, Kacey Lewis, Aly Rogers and Abi Rogers.

James was preceded in death by his loving wife of sixty years Opal Woodard Lewis, his parents Jame Monroe Lewis and Mattie Tibbs Bradshaw, a brother Charles Lewis and a great grandson Bishop Lewis.
