On December 14, 2021, James Foster Olson passed away from complications following a hemorrhagic stroke. He was born in the Chicago suburb of Berwyn, Illinois in 1948, and was the third of five sons to parents Fabian and Helen Olson. In 1969, he married his sweetheart, Susan Triner Olson. They had two children, Steve (wife Carla) and Becky (husband Mike), and transferred to Milan, Tennessee in the mid-70s.
Jim was employed by Ceco Door Company for almost 40 years and was proud to own his own business for the remainder of his working career. When Jim wasnt working, you could find him building and creating in his workshop, water skiing, or restoring a classic car in his garage. There was nothing Jim couldnt fix. He was extremely creative with anything he put his hands on - from wood working to barbecuing to metal sculpting. He also knew how to have a good time. He loved gathering around a bonfire, weekly lunches with friends, nights of cards with family, and dancing the jitterbug with his wife. Two of Jims favorite things were spending time with family and travel. He and Sue spent much of their year on the road in their motorhome on adventures across the country to see their grandchildren Avery and Asa in Wyoming, Drew, Dalton, and Parker in Chattanooga, and Bailey in New York. The whole family endured his repetitive jokes, loved his delicious ribs, and appreciated his endless handiness in helping them to complete any unfinished project in their homes. His heart was huge and his laughter contagious.
A memorial visitation will take place Saturday, December 18, 2021, from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM at Bodkin Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America (a disease Jim suffered from as a child.)
