Jerry Lee Bray, age 82 of Bradford, passed away on November 25, 2020 at the Regional Medical Center in Memphis after a brief illness. He was born in Dyersburg, TN and lived there until he went to Memphis and attended Memphis State University. In 1971 he moved to Milan. Jerry was a retired school teacher and he taught for over 30 years. Before coming to Milan, he taught math, science, and mechanical drafting and drivers education. At Milan High School, the job he loved the most, Jerry taught Building Trades and would build houses and he also taught adult woodworking classes at night. After he retired, he worked from his home shop and for Todd Lumber Co. in Medina and Ceco Door Products in Milan. He loved his farm, the pond and orchard. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchild teaching them to fish. Jerry never met a stranger and he loved to kid around and tell jokes. He had a great sense of humor and he had an outgoing personality and loved to drink coffee with his friends at Clenneys. Jerry was always ready to help his family and friends. He enjoyed letting people know, that he and Elvis Presley shared the same birthday. Jerry is survived by his wife Jean Essary Bray of Bradford, two sons Thomas Lee Bray of Memphis and Barry Bray (Leigh Ann) of Milan, two grandchildren Morgan Bray of Medina and Luke Bray (fiancee Kallie Goins) of Milan and one great granddaughter Scarlett Jane of Medina and a sister in law Jeanette Bray of Nashville. He was preceded in death by his parents James Lee and Linnie May Gean Bray, two brothers Jim Bray and Paul Bray and a sister in law Janie Bray. Graveside service will be held on Saturday, November 28, 2020 at 12 pm at the Harmony Cemetery near Milan. There will be no visitation at the funeral home. Everyone is asked to please practice social distancing and wear a mask at the cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the American Alzheimers Association or to the Milan First United Methodist Church.
