Obituary

Jerry Joe Stinson, age 93, passed away at home on Tuesday, March 2, 2021 after a short illness. Jerry was born October 26, 1927 on the family farm in Milan, Tennessee. He was a 1945 Milan High School graduate and Army veteran. After his Army service, he attended Murray State University and graduated with a degree in Industrial Engineering. He worked as an engineer for U.S. Rubber early on and spent the majority of his career as an Industrial Engineer for ITT in Milan and Corinth, Mississippi before retiring in 1988. He had a love for the outdoors and his favorite pastimes were crappie fishing at Kentucky Lake and duck hunting in the Obion River bottoms. He was a member of Milan First Baptist Church. Jerry was preceded in death by his wife Iris Matheny Stinson and son Charles Lee Stinson; and siblings Louise Bynum, Morie Zietts, Helen Nelson and Raymond Stinson. He is survived by his daughter Mary Beth Johnson (Jim) of Nashville, TN; son John Stinson of Lexington, KY; son Jeff Stinson (Sandra) of Milan, TN and grandchildren Betty Kay Williams (Jake), Mary Jo Dahms (Jesse) and Sam Stinson and great grandson, Ross Williams. Private Graveside services will he held at Oakwood Cemetery with Bodkin Funeral Home of Milan officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Oakwood Cemetery Association or to the charity of the donors choice. Private Friday, March 05, 2021
