Funeral service for James Robert "Jim" Honeycutt, age 79 of Jackson, will be held on Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at 3 PM at Bodkin Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Gibson County Memory Gardens near Milan. Visitation with the family will be held on Tuesday from 12 – 3 PM at the funeral home.
Jim was born in Akron, OH on September 6, 1945, to Robert and Betty Fox Honeycutt. He attended Wadsworth High School in Wadsworth, OH, where he excelled and starred in football. He graduated from Wadsworth High School in 1963 at later was inducted into the Wadsworth High School Hall of Fame. After graduation, he attended and played football at the University of Miami Ohio, and he later attended Kent State University.
Jim worked for Packaging Corporation of America (PCA) in Rittman, OH and in 1969 he transferred to Jackson with PCA where he worked for several years. Before his retirement, he also worked as a sales manager for International Paper and Rusken Packaging Corporation in Jackson. He also served his country by serving in the National Guard from 1969-1977.
Jim had a love of the outdoors, especially a love for horses. Riding, trading and breeding horses was his life, and he cherished every moment of "barn life".
He is survived by daughter Laura King (Kevin) of Medina, a son Matthew Honeycutt of Jackson, adopted daughter Madison Honeycutt, a sister Judy Latham (Richard) of Milan and two grandchildren Andrew King and Sydney King of Medina. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by a sister Virginia "Ginny Lynn" Honeycutt.
