Mr. John Bennett Fuqua, aged 90, of Milan, passed away on February 20, 2020, peacefully at home. He was born in Milan, TN on April 7, 1929 to James Bennett Fuqua and Vaugn Perry Fuqua. John was graduated from the McCallie School and the University of Tennessee. He joined Milans 2998th National Guard unit and served in the Korean War, earning the battle commission rank of First Lieutenant. He returned to Milan to join the Fuqua Cotton Company and started the Milan Crop Spray with his brother L.P. "Buck" Fuqua. He retired from Gibson County as the Juvenile Court Director. John was a modern-day Davy Crockett, spending much of his time hunting and fishing with his family and friends. He was a life-long member of the First Baptist Church of Milan, serving as Deacon and Sunday School teacher.
He is survived by his wife Suzanne Hubbs Fuqua of Milan, two children Ben Fuqua (Michelle) of Nashville, and Hope Fuqua Jones (Jeff) of Carbondale, sister Lilian Fuqua Durand of Memphis, and six grandchildren: Kendall Jones, Meredith Jones, Anna Jones, Elise Jones, Ian Fuqua, and Lena Grace Fuqua. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother.
Visitation for Mr. Fuqua will be held from 2-4 PM on Monday, February 24, 2020 at the Bodkin Funeral home, followed by a Memorial Service at 4 pm. In lieu of any flowers, please make any donations to a charity of your choosing.
