Funeral services for Mr. Johnnie Hulon Hicks, age 98 of Lavinia, will be held at 2pm Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at the Bodkin Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Hickory Flat Cemetery in Cedar Grove. Visitation with the family will take place from 12pm until 2pm service time at the funeral home. Mr. Hicks was a 5 time Bronze Star recipient while serving in the United States Army during World War II. He was a member of Lavinia Baptist Church. Mr. Johnnie retired from the Milan Arsenal where he worked as a heavy equipment operator. Surviving Family: Son - Tony Hicks and wife Marilyn of Lavinia Daughters - Monda Smith and husband Roger of Lavinia and Kaffie Greene and husband James of Milan He is preceded in death by his parents; Luther Hicks and Cora Gowan Hicks, wife; Bonnie Newsome Hicks, brothers; Gene, Raymond, Curtis, Jessie and Alton Hicks, and sister; Vester Chamberlain. The family wants to express their gratitude to Mr. Hicks' special care givers, Kathy Ward, Joyce Copeland, and the late Shirley Rummage. Memorials may be directed to Lavinia Baptist Church or to the Alzheimer's Association.
