Funeral service for John Curtis "Johnny" Sapp, Sr., age 83, formerly of Milan, will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at 2 PM at Bodkin Funeral Home with burial to follow in the McLemoresville Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be held on Saturday from 12 – 2 PM at the funeral home.
Johnny was born in Miami, FL on July 30, 1941, to Henry and Ella Jane Stricklin Sapp. He worked and retired from Tower Automotive in Milan. Johnny was a long-time member of the Northside Baptist Church in Milan where he served as Deacon, Sunday School teacher and he was also licensed through the church to preach the Gospel.
He is survived by his wife Betty Sue Barger Sapp of McLemoresville, a daughter Dede Presson (Mike) of McLemoresville, three sons John Curtis "Buddy" Sapp, Jr. (Shelly) of Burlington IA, Robert Clayton Sapp (Patti) of Rockledge, FL and Tony Sapp (Celeste) of Atwood, thirteen grandchildren, Jennifer Twilla, John Dunn, Sara Wilson, Brittany Presson, Tyler Presson, Toni McGowan, Ronnie Sapp, Morgan Jenkins, Cameron King, Jonathon Rushing, Amber Davidson, Miranda Maust and Savannah Sapp and seventeen great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers Clifford Sapp and Melvin Sapp and two sisters Mary Wyatt and Peggy Rogers.
