Funeral service for Joyce Ann Jones, age 92 of Buchanan, TN, will be held on Monday, December 16, 2024, at 2 PM at Bodkin Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Gibson County Memory Gardens near Milan. Visitation with the family will be held on Monday from 12 – 2 PM at the funeral home.

She was born on July 31,1932 in Gibson County to Avery Ernest and Novel Lynn Pitts Shepherd. She received her nursing degree from Baptist School of Nursing and began her career of helping others through nursing. On December 17, 1952, she married Dr. Joe Paul Jones and for almost 72 years they lived life to its fullest.   Joyce was a member of the Point Pleasant Baptist Church in Buchanan.

She is survived by her husband of 71 years Dr. Joe Paul Jones of Buchanan, a daughter Jennifer Victoria Jones and her husband Roger Broadwell of Flagstaff, AZ, two sons Jay Peter Jones and Jeffery David Jones (Angie) both of Buchanan, one brother Robert Jerry Shepherd, six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents Avery Ernest Shepherd and Novel Lynn Pitts Walker, a son Joe Richard Jones, a brother Wayne Avery Shepherd and a sister Bobbie Jo Cook.
