The Celebration of Life Memorial Service for Laura Voncile McCartney will be held on Friday, November 3, 2023, at Moores Chapel Methodist Church at 11:00 AM. The church is located at 3 Oak Grove Road Milan, TN 38358. Burial to follow at Peace Chapel Cemetery in Scotts Hill, Tennessee. The family will begin receiving guests on Friday at 10:00 AM at the church. Laura was born in Osceola, Arkansas on February 3, 1941 to the late Hugh Carmen Curry and Verna Rimmer Curry. She passed away on October 28, 2023. Laura was a devoted member of Moores Chapel Methodist Church. She worked in the garment industry for many years and retired from American Chain and Cable. After retirement, she went to work at Wal-Mart in Milan as a greeter. Laura enjoyed sewing, embroidery, making gifts for her family and friends, and decorating for all holidays. She will be deeply missed as a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She is survived by her daughter Paula Thompson McGuire (Bobby) of Southaven, Mississippi, son, Ricky Thompson (Lou Erin) of Greenfield, 4 Granddaughters Megan Green (Bryan), Allison Gordon, (TJ), Heather Crotwell (Justin) and Rachel Lambert (Joseph) and 6 great grandchildren Mason Green, Colson Gordon, Olivia Gordon, Abby Crotwell, McKinnley Crotwell, Liam Crotwell and her brother Robert Leon Curry (Cathy). She was proceeded in death by her parents, Carmen and Verna Curry, her brother James Travis Curry, and sister, Peggy Curry Allmon. Memorials may be sent to Moores Chapel Methodist Church.
