Laura “Melissa” McMinn, age 65, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on June 1, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family and the faith that sustained her throughout her life.
Melissa was the devoted wife of Joseph G. McMinn, Jr., and a loving mother to Autumn (Johnny) McCartney and Kristan (Adam) Burnett. She was a proud and cherished grandmother to Cole (Kenadee) McCartney, Ally McCartney, and Drake, Brynlee, and Elissa Burnett. Nothing brought her greater joy than spending time with her family and sharing her unwavering love for Christ with those around her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph James and Vera Douglas James, her brother, Gaylon James, and a sister, Susan James.
Melissa’s life was a powerful testimony to God’s grace and faithfulness. More than seven years ago, she was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer and given only three to six months to live. Yet God had other plans. Through His mercy, Melissa was blessed with more than seven additional years—years she devoted to ministering to others, encouraging those facing hardship, and boldly sharing the hope she found in Jesus Christ.
Her faith was the cornerstone of her life. Melissa loved Jesus with all her heart and never hesitated to proclaim His goodness. Whether through her words, her prayers, or the way she endured life’s challenges with courage and trust in God, she touched countless lives and pointed many people toward Christ.
Though her family grieves her absence, they rejoice in knowing that she is healed, whole, and in the presence of the Savior she loved so deeply. Her legacy of faith, perseverance, compassion, and devotion to God will continue to inspire all who knew her.
“Well done, good and faithful servant.” — Matthew 25:23
Melissa will be deeply missed and forever loved until the day her family is reunited with her in Heaven.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at the Milan First Assembly of God Church from 5 – 8 PM and again on Friday, June 5, 2026, from 11 AM – 1 PM at the church. Funeral service will be held on Friday at 1 PM at Milan First Assembly of God, with burial to follow in the White Rose Cemetery near Gibson.
Memorials may be directed to the First Assembly Milan Building Fund.
