Mr. LaVaughn Dowland, age 91 of Milan, passed away surrounded by his loving family on February 15, 2025, at his residence after a brief illness. He was born on January 26, 1934, in the Skullbone community to his parents Wilburn and Myrtie Taylor Dowland.

LaVaughn was an avid fisherman and hunter who loved spending time at the family farm with his family. For over fifty-two years, he co-owned and operated the Dowland Service and Repair Center in Milan with his brother Melvin Dowland. With a true love for his country, he spent several years serving in the U S Army and the TN National Guard.

He is survived by two children Brent Dowland of Milan and Gina Crunk (Chip) of Brentwood, four grandchildren Katie Dowland, Carolyn Daniels, Molly Fendley and Trey Crunk and a great grandson John Richard Daniels. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Kate Dowland, his brother Melvin Dowland, and four sisters Wylodene Mosley, Omitene McCartney, Jewel Hutchinson, and Beauton Headen.

A private graveside service will be held at the Mount Pleasant Cemetery at a later date.
