Funeral services for Mrs. Lavern M. Smith, age 78 of Milan, will take place at 3:00 PM Monday, October 24, 2022, at the Bodkin Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Oakwood Cemetery in Milan. Visitation with the family will be Monday from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM at the funeral home. Lavern was born to the late Luther Moore and Lela Moore on June 19, 1944. She passed away October 20, 2022, at her home. Lavern was a homemaker in Milan. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Lavern's joy was keeping and hauling her grandchildren to the places they needed to be. She was Baptist by faith. Surviving Family: Sons - Tony Smith and wife Rhonda of Clinton, TN, and Keith Smith and wife Wanda of Milan, TN Daughter - Susan Smith Holbrook and husband Lenie of Athens, OH Grandchildren - 7 Great-Grandchildren - 7 Lavern was one of 13 siblings. Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Jerry Smith. Memorials may be directed to the Kirkland Cancer Center.
