Funeral service for Lt. Kelvin Whitney will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at the Milan First Baptist Church with burial to follow in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery near Bradford. Visitation will be held on Monday evening from 4:00 - 8:00 PM and on Tuesday from 12:00 - 2:00 PM. All services and visitations will be held at the Milan First Baptist Church. Kelvin was born on June 4, 1977, to Randall Whitney and the late Barbara Guy Whitney. He passed away at his Bradford home on May 3, 2023. Kelvin was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Bradford. Kelvin was a lieutenant with the Milan Police Department where he was a detective. He was on the force for 17 years. During that time, he served on the SWAT team and was the department firearms instructor. Kelvin is survived by his wife, Sheri Whitney of Bradford; father, Randall Whitney; sons, Payton Whitney, Austin Farley, and Levi Williams; daughters, Brook Whitney, Addison Whitney, and Mackenzie Whitney; brothers, Steven (Jennifer) Whitney of Dyer, Terry Whitney of Dyer, and Bradley Whitney of Dyer; and several nieces and nephews.
