Miss Lula Mabenine Scoby went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus on Saturday, May 6, 2023. Miss Lula was born in Henry County TN on July 17, 1924, to Mabin Anderson Scoby and Lula Mae Burgess Scoby. The family moved to Milan in 1930 and made their home there. She was a 1942 Graduate of Milan High School and loved attending Alumni Day every year. Last year she attended her 80th year Class Reunion. She was a longtime member of First Assembly of God in Milan and in recent years attended Salem UMC. She was employed at the Milan Shirt Factory for 43 years until they closed. Miss Lula lived the life of a true Christian. She attended church services until her health prevented her from going. She was always visiting with people that were in Nursing Homes or the Hospital to cheer them up and have prayer with them. She had been a resident at NHC Milan for over a year. She leaves behind a Cousin, Majorie Shaw and Second Cousins, Thomas Reilly, Gracie Reilly, Lisa Fager and Tammy Reilly Kent, all of Illinois and also a multitude of dear friends that will miss her so much. Visitation will be at Bodkin Funeral Home on Wednesday, May 10th from 10 AM until noon. A graveside service at Oakwood Cemetery will immediately follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials in her memory may be made to Salem United Methodist Church or Milan High School Scholarship Fund.
