Lynda Darlene Horne of Bradford, known to family and friends simply as Lynda, passed away on April 21, 2026, in Jackson, Tennessee, following an extended illness. She was 75 years old. Born on February 8, 1951, in Milan, Tennessee, she lived a life marked by devotion, kindness, and steady faith, leaving behind a legacy that will be remembered with deep affection by all who knew her.
Lynda was a longtime resident of West Tennessee and a proud graduate of Milan High School, Class of 1969. Those who knew her best remember a woman whose presence was warm, her spirit gracious, and her manner unfailingly caring. She carried herself with quiet strength and a sincere love for others, qualities that shaped the way she lived each day. Her life reflected the values she held close, and she was widely regarded as loving, kind, and faith-filled.
Her professional life included a long career with Farm Credit Services in Dresden, where she later retired. Through her work, Lynda earned the respect of colleagues and the appreciation of those she served. She was dependable, thoughtful, and committed to doing her part well, and her years there stood as another example of her dedication and integrity. Retirement gave her more time to enjoy the simple pleasures that brought her happiness, especially the moments she shared with family, friends, and her church community.
Faith was an important part of Lynda's life, and she was a member of Bradford First Baptist Church. She found joy in singing in her church choir, where her voice and her spirit contributed to the worship life of her congregation. She also enjoyed taking cruises and embraced opportunities to enjoy life and make lasting memories. Whether near home or traveling away, she appreciated the beauty of new experiences and the companionship of those around her.
Lynda is survived by her children, Amie Yarbrough and her husband Greg and Andy Horne and his wife, Leighann. She is also survived by her brother, Ken Dawson, and her sister-in-laws, Pam Dawson and Donna Lanciloti. Her grandchildren include Jeremy Smith and his wife, Courtney, Jaclyn Woodruff, Austin Horne and his wife, Hannah, and Alex Horne. She also leaves behind six great-grandchildren, Easton and Emmy Kate Smith, Trayson, Isebella and Blakely Westmoreland and Everleigh Horne, who brought her great joy and pride. In addition, she leaves behind her life-long best friends, Chris Frazier, Sandra Norman and Linda Bullington. Her family was central to her life, and she treasured the relationships she built and nurtured over the years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Nomel Watkins Dawson, her husband of 50 years, Ronnie Horne, and her brother, Tom Dawson. These losses were significant in her life, yet she continued to carry herself with grace and resilience, supported by the faith and love that defined her journey.
Her funeral service will be held at 1 PM on Saturday, April 25, 2026, at Bodkin Funeral Home with burial to immediately follow in the Shiloh Cemetery in Bradford. Visitation with the family will be held on Saturday from 11 AM - 1 PM at the funeral home.
