Funeral service for Mr. Lyndell Farrel Hayes, age 76 of Milan, will be held on Sunday, October 27, 2019 at 2 pm at Bodkin Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Poplar Springs Cemetery near Milan. Visitation with the family will be held on Saturday from 5 9 pm and on Sunday from 12 2 pm at the funeral home.
Mr. Hayes was born on April 5, 1943 to George Hayes and Beulah Jenkins Hayes in Milan. He passed away on October 20, 2019 at Jackson Madison County General Hospital after a brief illness. A dedicated father, grandfather and great-grandfahter, he was a lifelong member of the Poplar Springs Baptist Church. Mr. Hayes was a 1961 graduate of Milan High School, a faithful member of the Gibeon International and he had a passion for auctions, yard sales and selling "junk" at flea markets.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of over forty years, Linda Faye Hayes, and six brothers Thurman Hayes, Ray Hayes, Henry Hayes, Raymond Hayes, Robert Hayes and George Hayes, Jr. He is survived by a son Chris Hayes (Melinda) of Milan, a daughter Belinda McIntosh of Trimble, a dedicated special friend Gloria Prather of Atwood, one brother C. B. Hayes (Sue) of Paris, three sister Ruby Rainey of McKenzie, Opal Lessenberry of Lavinia, and Rachel Smith (Dwayne) of Milan, five grandchildren Nick McIntosh (Tabitha) of Savannah, Ryan Taylor (Nicole) of Milan, Brittany Launsby (Wayne) of Bradford, Krystal Taylor of McKenzie and Latasha Crocker (Adam) of Milan and nine great-grandchildren Madison Crocker, Benjaman Crocker, Brighton Launsby, Tanner Launsby, Dylan Bates, Zane Campbell, Hayden Willams, Collen Williams and Millie Taylor.
In lieu flowers, memorials may be given to the Gideons International.
