Funeral service for Marcus Franklin McLemore, age 72 of Savannah, Tennessee, will be held at 2pm on Friday, June 17, 2022 at the First United Methodist Church in Savannah followed by a graveside committal service at the Lavinia Cemetery at 5pm. Visitations with the family will be held in Milan at Bodkin Funeral Home Wednesday, June 15 from 3pm to 6pm and in Savannah at the First United Methodist Church on Thursday, June 16 from 5pm to 9pm and Friday, June 17 before the funeral service from 12 2 pm. Marcus was born to the late Robert and Ruth McLemore of Lavinia, TN on April 7, 1950. He was educated at Lavinia Elementary and in the Milan School system where he developed a lifelong love for basketball and agriculture. Graduating from Milan High in 1968, Marcus was an extraordinary sportsman. In basketball, he earned All-State honors, Honorable Mention All-American and was inducted into the Milan High Sports Hall of Fame. Marcus went on to play basketball at UT Martin where he was named team MVP, Best Defensive Player and received All-Conference Honors. Marcus married his Milan High schoolmate, Jenny Lynn Sanders McLemore (class of 70), on August 11, 1973. Marcus and Jenny Lynn resided in Savannah, TN until Jennys death in 2016. In Savannah, Marcus and Jenny Lynn raised their three surviving children: Jana Leigh Landreth (Thomas, III) of Orlando, FL, Michael Franklin McLemore (Kimberly) of Nashville, and Jenny Meredith McLemore of Spring Hill. They are also survived by six grandchildren: Thomas Landreth, Sam Landreth, Lauren Landreth, Evelyn McLemore, Melia Craig and Franklin McLemore. Also surviving Marcus is his sister, Shelia Rainey (Alan) of Atwood. Marcus was a Lavinia farmer his whole life, raising cattle and growing crops at McLemore Farm. He retired as an Agent from the Hardin County Agricultural Extension office with the University of TN. Marcus impacted the lives of countless Hardin County youth through his thoughtful efforts with the 4H and County Fair programs.
