Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery near Milan. Visitation with the family will be held on Wednesday, July 5, from 12-2 PM at the funeral home.
The youngest of eleven children, Margie was born on August 3, 1927, to William Carroll and Melinda Jane Kimbel Smith in Gibson County Tennessee. She quietly entered Heaven from home on the afternoon of June 28, 2023, with her family and loved ones by her side.
Margie was the last surviving charter member of the Milan First Assembly of God Church. In later years, she faithfully attended and served in the Oak Grove Baptist Church where she was known as an Encourager. She lived well and loved much, nurturing those God brought into her path, begininng with nieces and nephews when she was young and many others along the way.
Margie married William Robert "Rob" Jones on December 24, 1947. Together they built their own home, raised two children, a herd of cattle and many gardens and crops. She called herself a Country Girl and embraced the simple life and hard work of the farm. She retired from the Milan Shirt Factory where she worked as a Quality Supervisor. She maintained her home with that same quality. It was always open to family and friends and her table was always full to share.
She is survived by two children, Barry Jones (Patricia) of Milan and Nancy Roberts (Dr. David) of Milan, five grandchildren, Shane Roberts (Janelle), Ross Roberts, Brad Jones (Laura Beth), Todd Jones and Katie Jones Milton (JD) and six great grandchildren, Ezra Roberts, Jones Roberts, Marianna Jones, Mitchell Jones, Kinley Milton and Cora Milton. Margie was preceded in death by her husband, Rob Jones, parents, W.C. and Jane Smith, brothers, Ernest Smith, Ralph Smith, Paul Smith, James Smith and Max Smith and sisters, Clemence McMinn, Mary Casey, Julia Turner, Louise Barnett and Susie Smith.
Her family wishes to also acknowledge the many caregivers who made her life and theirs so much better these last two years. We especially extend our gratitude to Leora K. Jones, Patricia Kelley, Connie Martin, Patricia Rose, and those from Touching Hearts, Peaches Clark and Martha Lewis. Memorials may be directed to the Oak Grove Church Cemetery Fund.
