Mark Edward Rainey, 69, passed away on October 15, 2026. Born on September 17, 1957, he lived a life marked by service, faith, family devotion, and enduring connection to his community.
Mark graduated from Jackson State Community College, an accomplishment that reflected his steady commitment to learning and personal growth. He also served his country in the U.S. Air Force as a weapons mechanic, a role that spoke to his skill, discipline, and sense of duty. In the years that followed, he remained deeply engaged in the life around him. He was an avid member of the Milan Pickleball Club, where fellowship and friendly competition brought him much enjoyment, and he was also a member of New Horizon United Methodist Church, where his faith found a home.
At the heart of Mark’s life was his family, whose love and presence formed the truest measure of his days. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ann Rainey; his son, Nicoleus Tyson Rainey, and Nicoleus’s wife, McKensie; and his beloved grandchildren, Emerson, Carson, and Sloan Rainey. He is also survived by his brothers, Charles Rainey and his wife Jean, Paul Rainey and his wife, Lisa, and Michael Rainey and his wife, Kathy; and by his sisters, Lisa Roe and Mary Anne McIntosh and her husband, Don. In their love for him, and in the many shared memories that will continue to be cherished, his life carries forward warmly in the hearts of those closest to him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Doris Hughes Rainey. Their memory remained part of the family story he carried throughout his life.
Visitation for Mark Rainey will be held on October 18, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Bodkin Funeral Home, 2000 N 1st St, Milan, TN 38358. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m., also at Bodkin Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery in Milan.
Mark Edward Rainey will be remembered with love, gratitude, and respect by all who knew him. His life was one of commitment—to country, to church, to community, and above all to family—and his memory will remain a lasting blessing.
