Martha Aileen Fuchs Wheeler
Mother entered into her eternal rest June 21, 2020. She was born January 14, 1926. She is now in the presence of Jesus Christ, her Lord and Savior.
She was preceded in death by our dad Jessie Woodrow Wheeler, her life long love. Also by her parents Igan and Eva Boepple Fuchs, siblings William (Arbie) Fuchs, Julius (Anna) Fuchs and Melandia Fuchs (Edwin) Forrester.
Her family was one of the original German families that settled in Milan on Germantown Road in 1886.
At an early age, mother took one year of piano lessons from Ms. Pauline Bradberry. She taught herself and she was an accomplished pianist and organist.
She was one of the charter members of her beloved Northside Baptist Church. She taught Sunday School and was always an active member and had a great desire to share Jesus through witnessing and through her music. She served as pianist and organist for 56 years.
She worked at the Milan Rubber Plant, the Milan Arsenal and Milan Motor Co. of which she and daddy were co-owners.
She leaves behind daughter Janice Cummings of Franklin, NC, grandson Michael H. Cummings II of Clayton, GA, great grandchildren Sarah Claire Cummings, Isbelle Hope Cummings and Michael H. Cummings III, daughter Carolyn Pratt of Milan, grandson P. A. Pratt (Randa) of Gadsden, great grandchildren Elli Pratt and Luke Pratt, grandson Jeffrey Todd Pratt (Tracy) of Daphne, AL, great grandchildren Noah Pratt, Cheney Pratt and Zoie Pratt. She was a loving and caring mother and grandmother.
We are especially thankful for the Asera Care Group and the great love and dedication shown to our mother and our family. Also, most of all to Janet for being the sunshine in our saddest days and for Calvin and his words of encouragement.
Services will be held on Friday, June 26, 2020 at Bodkin Funeral Home at 2 pm with Johnny Sapp, Bro. Eric McLemore and Bro. Calvin Mercer officiating. Burial will be in the Gibson County Memory Gardens near Milan. The family will receive friends on Friday from 11 am to 2 pm at the Bodkin Funeral Home.
