Funeral services for Mary Lucille Wheat, age 81 of Milan, will take place at 12:00 PM Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at the Bodkin Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Liberty All Cemetery in Huntingdon. Visitation with the family will be Tuesday from 10:00 AM until service time at the funeral home. Born to the late Willie and Lillie Morgan Smothers on February 19, 1942, Mary passed away June 3, 2023, at NHC Healthcare in Milan. Mary worked at the Milan Army Ammunition Plant for over 30 years. She was a long-time member of Milan First United Methodist Church. She was a dedicated member and enjoyed Red Bird mission trips. Mary was a strong supporter of Relay for Life and was very competitive in raising money. She will be deeply missed by her loving family and friends. Surviving Family: Son - Tony Barger and wife Lisa of Huntingdon, TN Daughter - Sherry Powers of Milan, TN Sister - Evon Dailey of St. Charles, MO Grandchildren - Brooke Counce and husband Weston of Nashville, TN, Cody Barger of Murray, KY, and Sydney Barger of Huntingdon, TN Great-Granddaughter - Sadie Counce Besides her parents, Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Wheat, Sr, and three brothers, Robert, Bill and Jimmy Smothers.
