Mr. Merle Walden, age 96 of Milan, TN passed May 29, 2026, at NHC Healthcare Milan. Merle was born October 6, 1929 in Milan, TN. He was the son of late Giles Herman and Willie Walden. Merle served in the Army of the United States. He met his wife Sylvia in California. Merle and family moved to Milan in 1969 where he worked at the ITT plant and farmed and later owned and operated Milan hardware for 19 years before retirement. Merle was an active member of the First Assembly of God of Milan and was a life member of the Gideons International. He was passionate about sharing his faith and enjoyed teaching Sunday school.

Merle was preceded in death by his wife Sylvia Walden, brothers Henry Luster Walden and H. Dean Walden, a sister Dorothy Walden and daughter Barbara L. Walden.

Surviving Family: Sons - Barry L. Walden of Memphis, TN and Michael Walden and wife Donna of Nashville, TN Brother – Glynn Ray Walden and wife Maria of Hayward, CA Sister - Joellyn Coble of Milan, TN Grandsons - Ben Walden and wife Jenna of Albany, NY, and Joe Walden and his fiancée Keara Ashworth of Nashville, TN. Many nieces and nephews and great grandchildren.
